Textured silver making workshop
A unique experience making your own textured silver piece to your design.
A workshop set in an orangery studio with all tools and equipment supplied taking you through the fundamentals of jewellery making. Design and craft a unique piece made by your own hands .This workshop runs from 10.30am -1.30pm or afternoon sessions are 2pm-5pm. It includes all base metals for test samples and eco recycled sterling silver for your final design. Please contact in advance of class to let me know if you prefer to make a silver ring or earrings .

The workshop is about you learning through making to create your own unique piece of silver jewellery. You will be expertly guided in using a range of professional jewellery tools and techniques. You will learn how to mark out your design and measure your piece with accuracy. You will explore different methods to cut metal with a jewellers saw and a disc cutter. Get confident with using a jewellers torch to make the metal malleable for forming into sculptural 3D forms and to allow you to texture metal with printing techniques and a range of mark making hammer and punches. Test pieces in copper will allow you to explore a range of techniquess before committing to your final design in silver. We will use a range of materials to explore texture and these may include dried plants grown in the orangery. Learn the art of silver soldering to attach your findings. Learn essential finishing skills for your design with files, wet and dry papers and explore different polish finishes. All equipment and metal are included in the experience and you will leave with a great sense of satisfaction at having created your own ready to wear bespoke jewellery heirloom.
Other things to note
The techniques and processes require good eyesight so remember your glasses to see finer detail and for close up work. The techniques involved require moderate hand strength and dexterity.
