The clockwise spiral in early art was believed to represent the Sun- a popular motif in the early art of many cultures. Suppossedly, a loose spiral represented long summer days whilst a tightly wound spiral represented shorter days of winter.

I feel like these might be spring spirals ready to be energised by the sun and bring spring energy.
